PACKING

It's begun. We won't be out for a  month, but I'm getting antsy. The house is so close to being finished, I can taste it. And I don't want a mad, unorganized dash at the end.

What's depressing is the fact that I have three times as many boxes packed then are pictured here...yet you can hardly tell. How the HECK did we ever acquire so much StuFf?!

For any of you more experienced movers out there, any tips you have for packing and a smooth move would be much appreciated. And any Rexburgers who would like to donate boxes to this cause, let me know! We are definitely in need of more boxes. Lots and lots and lots of boxes.

label, label, and label some more... also state on each box the room the box is from so any helpers dont have to ask for every box where it goes. Also in new house put temp labels the doors to match rooms on boxes (also saves repeating yourself). Have a box packed with the important will need on the first night in new house e.g jug, coffee (or what ever you drink)cups etc.
Most of all remember moving is stressful so take time to breath and find the humour cause you are going to need it...good luck :)

When I moved I collected the boxes the paper came in from school for months. The custodian would leave me boxes too. You probably are already getting those boxes but it brought back so many memories of my tiny classroom and my car being full of my box collection. Good luck!

I just came across your blog this morning! Your house looks great! My husband and I are in the process of designing our house and I've been wanting to put grey on the walls but my husband hasn't been on board until he saw your walls! You probably mentioned your paint colors but I was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing them with me?

A plus to living so close to where you're moving is that you can take boxes over unpack them and then reuse them. Fewer boxes and you get some unpacking done.

Having just moved a little over a year ago (our third home), I would suggest having a box that is marked as "Open Me First". You can pack your "essentials" that you'll need when you first move in, so you don't have to comb through a bunch of stuff looking. i.e., toilet paper, sheets, plastic cups and silverware, paper plates, can opener, paper towels, coffee, dish soap, dish towel and dishcloth, garbage bags, shower curtain etc...

No fun having to hunt through a bunch of boxes for these little essentials that can be packed all together. :-)

Your house is looking beautiful! Found you via Remodelaholic - what an amazing ceiling you have!!

If you have a costco or sam's club you can get wine boxes to put glasses in. Of course you can also put wine in them!

Your home is just beautiful!!
