Hi. It's just me trying to make another decision for this house of ours.
My dream would be one of these deep, white apron front kitchen sinks I've seen everywhere lately. Unfortunately, from what I've seen so far, they cost a thousand buckaroos...at least.
This is a picture of the IKEA sink installed. The white farmhouse sink seems timeless and will look sharp with our white cabinets and black counter tops.
But we also found this pretty, under mount sink from Home Depot for about 40 bucks more than the IKEA one. This one is SUPER deep and it would match our stainless steel appliances.
This isn't the best picture, but it gives you an idea what the Home Depot sink looks like installed.
Any advice? Anybody own either kind or have a preference one way or another? We'll need to get one ordered in the next few days!

We have the ikea farm house sink that you have pictured and I love it. I have never thought it wasn't deep enough, but our kitchen is hidden so I am not worried about people popping over and seeing it. Also I am not a sink stalker. For me, if I am going to put the effort to put it in the sink I may as well just put it in the dishwasher but most the time they just sit on the counter or table:) So I guess I am no help.
Try this one. http://www.saveonfaucet.com/32--Short-Wall-Double-Bowl-Fireclay-Farmhouse-Kitchen-Sink-AB5123-P8540.aspx

The white one is very pretty but I have a really deep, stainless steel sink and it is my favorite thing. If I am ever doing dishes somewhere and their sink is not deep it drives me crazy! Love, love, love a nice deep sink!
Thanks all, for the help and advice. It really helps.
Andrea, what are the reasons you like a nice, deep sink? I mean...besides the wanting to hide the mess when you're not getting the chores done?
Hi my name is Jessica and I am a friend of Andreas:) I stalk your sight. We recently went through some major remodeling and I have some opinions based on experience. We got an undermount sink I love it, however deep sinks do provide for splashing of water if the stream of water from your faucet hits anything resistant:) I do love the sink I thought I would share the link as I too wanted an apron sink to begin with. Its is a composite granite heres the link we bought it at lowes http://www.lowes.com/pd_329302-68754-441251_4294735690_4294933768_?productId=3204017&Ns=p_product_prd_lis_ord_nbr|0||p_product_qty_sales_dollar|1&pl=1¤tURL=%2Fpl_Kitchen%2BSinks_4294735690_4294933768_%3FNs%3Dp_product_prd_lis_ord_nbr%7C0%7C%7Cp_product_qty_sales_dollar%7C1&facetInfo=
Hope this helps. The small decisions are the hardest.
My grandma got a under-mount sink and swears it's the greatest thing ever. I'd opt for the deeper sink if it were me. I like canning and with all the big pots it's a life saver. Also a note on white sinks...I have one and I've got a couple chips in it that annoy me. I wish I had a nice stainless one, they are so easy to clean.
Rachel,
I have a white sink right now. I hate it because it leaves black marks/scratches that don't always come off. I also like deeper sinks because I get less wet while doing dishes with a deeper sink :-) Hope this helps and that it isn't too late!
Just saw your question. I like the deep sink because of the reason of not getting water on myself, or the counter while doing the dishes. I only have to fill it half full and I have a ton of room. I also like it to bathe the kids when they are small. It's easy to just hold them in the sink and it is deep enough that again, they fit, and water doesn't get everywhere.
I hate cleaning stainless. So spotty. Love my Silgranite sink.
